The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The AAP Joint Providership Program has been designed to foster excellence in CME throughout the Academy. The AAP only jointly provides CME activities with AAP chapters, districts and the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) to designate AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and ABP MOC Part 2 points on those activities.
Joint Providership Information, Tips and FAQs
Maintenance of Certification (MOC)
- ABP MOC Part 2 Points: All activities that want to award CME credits must complete the abstract submission process. Educational activities that are eligible to award AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are also eligible to award ABP MOC Part 2 points as long as the activity includes an assessment tool (i.e. quiz/reflective questions) and provides individualized feedback on learner performance. To apply for MOC Part 2 points, complete the additional MOC Part 2 questions during the abstract submission and accreditation staff will work with you to ensure all requirements are met. Additional information on MOC Part 2 activities can be found here.
- ABP MOC Part 4 Points: Learn more about the MOC Part 4 process or submit a project request form by clicking here.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) offers AAP Credit for CME activities sponsored by external organizations that are accredited to designate AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. The sponsoring organization is obligated to comply with ACCME Criteria, Standards and Policies and the requirements for granting AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for CME activities. Activities receiving AAP Credit are listed in the AAP CME Finder at www.pedialink.org in the AAP Approved Credit CME Activities area. AAP Fellows and Candidate Members who participate in AAP approved or sponsored CME activities earn credit toward achievement of the AAP CME/CPD Award. This award is granted to Fellow or Candidate Member pediatricians who complete at least 150 credits over a 3-year period.

For questions regarding accreditation, including designation of CME credits and American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points on educational activities, please contact AAP staff members:
Most approved accredited activities (with exception to CME-Division supported courses) procure their own meeting services support outside of the Meetings & Travel. If an AAP constituent group requires guidance for allocating resources internally and externally, please contact AAP staff member, Cindy Airhart (firstname.lastname@example.org), to review requests, assess needs and timelines. All contracts are required to be routed through Cindy Airhart, which are then routed through Finance.
Questions on how to promote CME activities should be directed to AAP staff member, Marirose Russo (email@example.com).
